“If you are concidering the GE Front Load Washer…think no more. It is the one for you. Great and efficent wash machine. Gets a little loud in the spin cycle but hey it does spin at 1000 RPM’s. Uses less soap and really rinses it all out. Lots of great cyles for even your most delicate of clothes. Highly recommend and great price also. Sometime you will need to leave the door open so the drum can air out. Otherwise you will get a little bit of a mildew smell. Works great with liquid fabric softener. No stains…ever!!”

“My Ge Appliance Front load washer has so far (only 2 months old) SAVED me so much in water, electricity, time and energy. I love that I can have my clothes dried, folded and almost completly put away before my next load is ready to come out of the washer. The washer works so hard, yet it barley makes a sound, there is little to NO vibration from it while it’s adjatating or spinning out. My clothes have never been treated so well. I am in love with my new washer and it’s matching dryer.”

“I have had these machines for just over a year and they are fantastic. I had the LG front loaders with the steam and these wash way better, my whites have never been whiter and I haven’t met a stain I couldn’t get out.
We bought these because we moved into a new house and wanted a different colour then our red LG’s, so my husband gave them to his sister and we bout the black ones of this model. Wow! is all I can say, they are fantastic, our laundry room is upstairs right beside our masterbedroom on the second floor and you don’t hear anything, they are so quiet. There are tons of settings and everything comes out clean and fresh smelling (I could say that about my LG’s I always had a mildew smell that was on my towel’s). My 6 month old son’s cloths come out perfect all the stains from his food……
My only negative is that the cycles are long, but it is not that big of a deal, laundry has never been about speed its about getting your cloths clean and this machine does it the best.
Highly recommended as the best washing machines!”

“We purchased this washer when we bought our house. I had wanted a front loading washer for a while, tired of having to bend over and lift out wet clothes. The fact that it was energy efficient was also a plus.
The first thing we noticed is that it was quieter than models we had previously, with one exception. Our laundry room was on the second floor of our house and when the washer reached the spin cycle it shook the floor. I think this is pretty normal. Pedestals for the washer can be purchased seprately. However for the price tag, I would rather put up with the noise.
The washer allows you many different options – delicate, speed wash, and stain wash among them. Stain wash has a pre-soak cycle and takes a whopping 2 plus hours to complete. However, it does help with those particularly nasty bits of laundry. I was impressed by the fact that the machine automatically adjusts the amount of water it uses on the size of the load. This helps to conserve water and is easier on your utility bills.
Performance of the machine has been very good so far. The only problems that I have had is with some brands of fabric softner, the dispenser in the top left corner of the machine gets clogged. When this happens I just run some vinegar through the machine. (This is not recommended by the manufacturer, just a trick I learned from my Grandmother.)
Over all, it has been a great machine. It does the job well, is energy efficient, and conserves water. For your money, you might be able to do better but if you are environmentally minded it would be hard to beat.”

“Moving into a place that didn’t come with its own washer or dryer, a quick realization occurs that it is nearly impossible to rely upon coin operated machines at the Laundromat once you have become accustomed to having your own. The GE WBVH6240FWW Front Load Washer was purchased along with the GE DCVH515EF Electric Dryer, and was given as a moving in gift. The washer is probably the most impressive one I have used, and I was immediately impressed by everything that it had to offer. This GE Washer is of course a front loading appliance, which has a volume capacity of 3.7 cubic feet. In easier terms, that means it holds a lot of laundry, and in my experience that is a large laundry basket full of it. This means you can actually do a full load of colors without having to split it into two different loads. After you have loaded in the clothing, you close the front door, which will automatically lock once you have started up the machine.

Looking at the front panel of the washer, it becomes even more impressive, as you see all of the knobs, dials, and buttons you get to play with in deciding how to wash your clothes. There are 24 different washing presets on the machine, and that works with 4 different spin speeds, and 5 different temperature levels that you can set with the water. At the top front, you have a nice power button that activates all of the digital readouts, a start/pause button for the washing cycles, a lock button to lock the front door when not in use, and a start delay button if you want to delay the start of washing until a specific time. Below those buttons is the main knob that serves as a dial to decide what type of wash you want to put your clothes through. The different options include whites, colors/normal, stain wash, easy care, active wear, delicates, speed wash, and rinse/spin. When you select each of the modes with the dial, it also presets what soil level, spin speed and wash temperature will be on three read-outs on the right front of the washer. For example, if you choose whites as your washing selection, it presets to normal soil level, high spin speed, and hot water temperature.

Each of the washing modes has a different pre-set that comes up on the read-outs, and shows alongside the total washing time that the specific cycle will take. For whites at that setting, it takes 1 hour and 21 minutes. Each of the presets can be altered if for instance you want whites to be washed on cold, or if you want to change the soil level by hitting the rotating button underneath each of the read-out types. I think it is a really neat feature that allows you to set everything to your specific tastes when using the washing machine. This makes sure that if you want all your clothes washed in cold water that you can decide to set it at that. Having the extra rinse/spin cycle means that when the load is finished if you want to run it through one more additional time that it is just as easy as pushing one button. Every time you use the washer, you can also decide to take advantage of the Extra Rinse and Pre-wash buttons that can apply to your specific load. With everything being digital, it takes the guesswork out of using the washing machine, and gives you the huge benefit of knowing just how much time is left on the load. This means you can do other things around the house and come back at a specific time to put in the next load.

On the front top left of the machine, there is a little drawer that pulls out, where you put in the laundry detergent to wash your clothes. It works by adding water to what you have put in the compartment, and having it spray down into the clothes that are in the washer. I would recommend using liquid detergent if you have the option because it works best, and goes through the tubes easier than a solid detergent. Since it adds water to the compartment, some solid detergents might leave residue behind, but that isn’t too much of a problem since the next use will clean the pipes out all over again. Beside the detergent compartment, there are also places to put liquid bleach and fabric softener. Everything is made so easy that once you place your liquids in there, you close the compartment, press start on the modes you have set, and just walk away from the machine. Once your cycles have been set digitally, the machine gives about a 2 second delay, and then locks the front door to the washer. This makes it so that it won’t pop open from pressure on the other side or from someone trying to open it while it is full of water. If for some reason you need to get into the front of the washer while it is in use, you can press the pause button and then the lock button on the front, and you can then open it up with ease.

This washer has been very energy efficient, probably because it is Energy Star Compliant. The is means that it isn’t taking too much power to run, and I think that it has helped the electricity bill a lot more than an average machine would have. The washer is very quiet when it is running a cycle, and without the low hum in the background, you might never know it was even turned on. This is great, because it means you can run the washer when you go to bed at night, and it won’t matter how close you are sleeping to the laundry room. When a load is done there is a nice end-of-cycle signal that goes off which can be adjusted in volume to either not be heard, or turned up to a level that will allow you to even hear it outside. The tub is made of stainless steel, and the machine itself is white on the exterior, with a black strip at the top where the power controls are located. It comes with a one year parts and limited labor warranty, and will probably hold up to all of your best expectations for a washing machine. I can honestly say it is the best one that I have used, and you couple that with the low amount of water and electricity needed to operate it, and it makes me even happier when paying the monthly bills. That water amount is decided by a Load Sensitive System within the machine that determines how much water each of the loads is going to need. It is nice, because it takes all of the guess work out of washing your clothes. Another benefit along those lines, is that is has what is called a Hydro motion washing action that “offers a strong clean with a gentle motion that doesn’t damage clothes.”

The GE WBVH6240FWW Front Load Washer has been a genuine time-saver, money saver, and all around great washer every time that I have used it to wash clothes. It hasn’t had any problems since being purchased, it has never leaked water, and it has always presented extremely clean and nice smelling clothes every time it has been put into use. It has removed all the guess work that is involved with temperature of the water, water levels, or what type of settings you should use on the specific colors. With the digital readouts, you always know what is going on, which gives you and added confidence when using the washing machine. Though I am sure this is considered a more expensive option in the world of washing machines, I think it is well worth it for all of the benefits that come along with using a great GE washing machine. I highly recommend The GE WBVH6240FWW Front Load Washer, and suggest that if you are in the market for a new washing machine that you take a look at this model.”

“Large capacity.  Haven’t found anything it wouldn’t take care of.  Love the touch screen and stain category in particular.  Also appreciate the “my cycle” choices.  Paired with the profile dryer takes all the work out of laundry for me.”

“We purchased this machine about 3 months ago when our previous GE machine motor pooped out after 5 years of serious and steady usage. This washing machine is so quiet for the most part.  I had to go back and check and make sure it was actually running as it went through the wash cycle.  If you put your ear down to it you can hear it agitating.  When it gets ready to spin it sounds like a very quiet jet getting ready to take off.  It washes well and holds a good amount of clothes including my king size quilt without problems.  It does sound off balance each time I put in a full load of towels, but it recovers itself without needing my attention. All in all, a workhorse machine without bells and whistles.”

“I almost didn’t purchase this machine after reading some negative reviews about it on the net.. even though Consumer Reports gives it a Best Buy. I am so glad I didn’t listen to the negative reviews.
This is a great washer with a very large capacity. It is deceiving to look at because it is also small, but if It can fit in all my weeks worth of towels in one load and still have room, then I know it can hold alot. It spins the clothes really well. This has ment that my dryer works for way less time at least 10 – 15 mins per load! It also looks great what a bonus!
This washer is very quiet… and if you are having any problems at all with it I suugest you get it replaced.. I mean lemons come in all shapes and sizes…
Not sure where the “perfect Temp” complaint comes from. My washer does Hot/ Warm/ and Cold when called on. The clothes are defintely cleaner…”

“Hi! I am going to go over the specifications and description on this General Electric Washing Machine and put in my opinions here and there in parentheses.
3.2 cu. ft. Super Plus ExtrAction wash basket – Offers increased surface area to “squeeze” more water from clothes during the spin cycle, resulting in reduced dry times (Don’t be fooled by the Super Plus wording. 3.2 is a standard size washing machine. Anything less is below standard size. You can fit up to 9 pairs of adult jeans comfortably)
Has variable speeds to match the wash action to the clothing type. Longer, slower travel through the water improves cleaning performance and is gentler on your clothes (Nearly every model has this feature)
HydroWave wash system – Has variable speeds to match the wash action to the clothing type. Longer, slower travel through the water improves cleaning performance and is gentler on your clothes (Hydrowave wash system is simply a glorified term that General Electric specifically uses. Other brands will have a different wash system NAME)
Three wash/spin speed combinations – Alternate between high, medium and low speeds for better clothes care (Very typical feature)
16 wash cycles – Offer fabric-specific clothes care (16 wash cycles is pretty good. Sometimes there is as little as 10 wash cycles to choose from! You won’t get delicate cycle on this washing machine.)”
